Rated 5 out of 5 by Flapjackjimbob from Great boots, better customer service I ordered a pair of these around a year ago from Zappos, and this April I noticed the goretex on the top of the toe started to rip a little. When I reached out to Zappos they said they would only accept returns within 6 months, and never for wear and tear. When I reached out to Salomon they told me they were going to review the case, and within 12 hours they sent me a voucher for a new pair. I don’t believe there was any obligation on their part to do so, but they stood by their product.The boots themselves have improved my hiking experiences immensely. The waterproofing is excellent, traction on slippery rocks and roots is fantastic, and the ankle support is second to none I’ve tried before. I would expect all of that would make the boot heavy, but these are light and comfortable. I hike primarily in the woods, beaches, and mountains in NH, so grip and waterproofing are essential for me. Additionally, I have wide feet and these fit very well. There was a little bit of break-in period, maybe 2 walks around the neighborhood, but now I regularly wear them all day as they are my most comfortable pair of shoes. Hoping they will come out with more wide fitting models, because my experience with Salomon has been superb. 5 stars, will buy again when I wear these ones out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Nickspicks from Forever on the Decline I used to love my X-Ultra 3 shoes. They lasted a long time. This new version falls apart so quickly it is unbelievable. I cant even get 6 months of normal walking out of a pair before the toe-box fabric creases and forms a giant hole. Each pair of xUltra 4 have failed in the same spot and now Salomon will not replace the shoes. My wife's pair failed in the same spot as well. This is the last time I will ever buy anything from Salomon. They once made quality shoes and lasted but they day is over
